The day's on its way

I watched The Day After Tomorrow this afternoon. I know it wasn't as successful as people thought it should have been, but I think that's partially because we don't like the idea that our massive consumption could lead to our demise, scientifically speaking that is. Many of the religious right think that Armageddon is coming or could come, but they don't want to take responsibility.

It's like when we're kids, and we're told many things -- if we do something bad, we'll get it back. But people don't seem to think of our excessive consumption in that manner. I'm not all high and mighty either. I tend to just use, use, use. I've been driving around all weekend, wasting gasoline, helping pollute the environment, etc. I'm using plastic ware and paper bowls, just throwing them away instead of washing and reusing.

I reuse water bottles. Does that cancel out all of the other stuff I just toss? Probably not. I don't really know much about the environment, and it's probably time I did some research and made some real moves to reduce my consumption and my effect on the environment. (And getting my Stella will help!)

And I LOVED the idea of a scientific Armageddon. That's fabulous. I love scientific reasons for things.

Random thought: I feel like a bitch because I took someone's clothes out of the washer tonight. But I waited 10 minutes, and I needed to use the machine! Really, I'm not a bitch, though. I have every right to use that machine. And when my clothes are done, if there's still stuff in the dryer, then I'm taking that stuff out, too. I'm just that way.
