Kind of a rough week. The song choices are interesting (read: weird and not suitable to find out whether someone really could front INXS), and I know that the contestants aren’t choosing what they choose (you know what I mean). But still. What are they thinking?
Best Performance: MiG, followed by Jordis
Worst Performance: JD, followed by my girl Heather
Jordis, “Gimme Some Lovin’”
A completely different performance for Jordis, and she ROCKED it.
Suzie, “Superstition”
A risky number, plus a harmonica. I didn’t care for her standing in one position, and she was kind of weak in some spots. Overall, a good performance, though. But I can’t shake the fact that she looks like Debbie Gibson.
Jessica, “Because the Night”
Again, the beginning sucked, but probably one of her better performance. And she’s clothed! But I don’t know why she used birds as her breasts. I still want the skank to go home. She’s boring.
MiG, “Lola”
Apparently this is self-arranged (copying JD, of course – brownnosers, unite!). I dig it. I’m not really sure what the judges were talking about with the control. But whatever. I like him a lot.
Brandon, “Tempted”
I really like his singing style. His stage presence is a bit boring. His eyes are shut, like, all the time. It’s a bit creepy. LOOK at the audience.
Ty, “Everybody Hurts”
God, his voice is so clear. Love it.
Heather, “If It Makes You Happy”
Weird choice for my favorite girl. The verses were rough, the chorus was good. The verses are too low. I don’t have a good vibe about this, and that upsets me. I will be voting a lot, that’s for sure.
JD, “We Are the Champions”
Terrible beginning. Missed some notes. He has weird facial expressions. Not happy with this. And when he tried to get the crowd into it, it seemed like he just didn’t want to sing the words.
Deanna, “Give a Little Bit”
Kind of anti-climatic. Better than last week, but I was waiting for something.
Daphna, “Rock the Casbah”
She’s surprisingly consistent; I don’t really think she “murdered” the song. But why was she wearing a prom dress?
Tara, “Suffragette City”
Her most interesting performance. I don’t hate her tonight. She seemed to be looking up a lot at first.
Marty, “Lithium”
He doesn’t sound suicidal. He kind of looks like a peppier Kurt. The “yeah” parts were awesome. Pretty good, and everyone was into it.
