I'm mad at the library.

I'm all annoyed at the library, and it's breaking my heart! A couple of weeks ago, I returned three books and one DVD. One book and the DVD got checked in; the other two books did not. So now those two books are listed as "claimed returned" and are accruing late fees. If the library doesn't find the books after 6 weeks, I have to pay for them. And that pisses me off.

I am a lover of the library. One of the first things I do when I move to a new place is get a brand new library card. In fact, I want to get a new one here because the new ones have key cards! And our library system is awesome and broad and open to getting books that are requested, but I'll be damned if I'm paying for two books that I returned - especially when libraries have amnesty days where assholes can return their LONG-overdue books with no penalty.

And don't talk to me about all the benefits I've derived from the library. I am well aware of their services - more than most - and I am a staunch supporter. But I also pay my taxes and pay my fines and return my books and think about other patrons, and I'm sick of being the considerate, reliable one who gets screwed.

This may be my breakup with this library. Guess it's time to move. But seriously, I haven't been there since they marked those books as "claimed returned," even though I have requests out there. They can pull the items and then put them back. (I should probably go to the library and check the shelves, but that's not my job. Plus, they'll probably just think that I didn't return them after all. Gah, I'm pissed. I don't lose things, thankyouverymuch.)

P.S. December is a fitness disaster (well, nutritionally too - grocery shopping is a distance memory at this point). I need to get my training plan for DC (and Cleveland) printed out and shoved in front of me. Missing too many workouts and runs and my mileage is way too low - 12 miles last week? Really?
