Review: The Kid

The Kid
The Kid by Sapphire

My rating: 0 of 5 stars

I abandoned this book about halfway through. Simply put, it's not very good. The flow isn't good. The characters are not good. There's nothing redeemable about the character of JJ/Abdul, and it's hard to believe him.

I expected the book to be horrifying, and I guess it is - but it doesn't feel raw or authentic in the least. It feels like it was written to be shocking, like the author is saying, "Oh, you may have handled Push, but you can't handle this."

I don't read books because the author is challenging my ability to absorb the situations. If I'm not learning anything from reading the tragedies, there's no point.
