Random

I miss being creative.

Definitely a turn-off

USATODAY.com - Star Jones Reynolds erased from 'View': "The reason, Walters told the Associated Press late Tuesday: Research showed Reynolds' dramatic weight loss and 2004 wedding to banker Al Reynolds was a turn-off for viewers."

I hate Star Jones. It's not like I ever watched The View (not a fan of the talk show format), but I certainly wouldn't watch it with her on there. She's awful.

I remember rumors about her leaving a while back. There was talk about Oprah's best friend taking Star's place.

Oh, get over it.

Officials criticize 'Hooters for Neuters':
LOS ANGELES - Several city officials on Tuesday sharply criticized a planned bikini contest to raise money for spaying pets, saying the 'Hooters for Neuters' event was degrading to women."
I just really think that people should look at the bigger picture here. Granted, I don't know what the flier looks like - and I don't care enough to find it - but still. It's a bikini contest, of course women would be in bikinis on the flier.

Also, I'm annoyed by everything today.

Why email is good for business communication

It's all about me: Why e-mails are so easily misunderstood | csmonitor.com: "In effect, e-mail cannot adequately convey emotion."

They say that like it's a negative. Business is not the place for emotional interactions. Email allows me time to compose myself if I'm pissed off, it allows me the time I need to phrase an appropriate response.

I always feel like people put too much thought into the effects of email. It's not going anywhere, and you need to embrace it. Kind of seems like it's mostly older people who are "concerned" about it. I have no qualms.

Also, people take things WAY too personally. The article does talk about people are ego-centric, and that's definitely true. But I'm thinking about it in a different way, I guess. People read too much into things, and it's just such a waste of time.

WorldWIT - Women. Insights. Technology.: "The struggle is to use the right tool for the job and to get out of automatic response mode long enough to determine whether email is really the best way to communicate the message at hand, whether you should instead pick up a phone or book a face to face meeting."

I think the phone is one of the worst ways to communicate. People are always distracted -- doing something else, checking emails, eating/drinking, zoning out. I dread teleconferences. I can't think of a worse use of my time.

In any case, voicemails are a far worse communication tool than emails. Blech.

I got her!

Not exactly flattering ...
Originally uploaded by adrienna.

More pictures -- more flattering, I hope -- will come. It's rainy now, and she doesn't need to be rained on this early in her life.

Looks like I really cut it close -- only three new ones left ... in the U.S. Lucky, lucky me. Poor, poor you!

Last night

For some bizarre reason, I was being bitchy (or "contrary") to my friend last night. I don't know why, but I feel really bad about it. I guess I was just tired and cranky and buzzed. Ridiculous.

Tomorrow...

Black Stella

I get my Stella. It's all set - I put down a deposit, have the loan papers, have insurance. I'm so excited that one might say I'm "stoked."

My favorite thing about the South?

A Walmart parking lot

Finally, I put some pics up from our Memorial Day weekend trip to South Carolina for Aaron's cousin's wedding. The shame of it all was the first night when we stopped at a Walmart in Winston-Salem to sleep.

Be assured that we did not step inside the Walmart and only used its parking lot. Ha!

Valentino Face

Check out the large nostrils on this kitty! His lips -- especially the bottom one -- are also quite big. Up close, he's a unique-looking kitty.

I totally need to update ...

... but I'm tired and going to bed. I'm sick (again), so I need my sleep.

In short, I got my motorcycle endorsement in May, and it looks like -- thanks to Aaron -- I will be getting my Stella soon. Unfortunately, getting it in tangerine isn't likely, as the scooters aren't being made anymore (dealers are selling 2005 bikes), and it's likely they won't ever be made again.

Job responsibilities have changed. We'll see how that works out.

I have pictures to upload soon, but that'll have to wait.
