Wow, I don't post very often

Sure, I was bummed that Bo didn't win, but THANK GOD he doesn't have to record that awful, awful song (although the Chicago Tribune thought the song suited Bo's style better).

And I can't believe that Janice is out. I liked her, damn it. Twiggy? Whatever. Honestly, though, I wonder whether she has enough personality to do something like this.

Oh, and Nole's out. What a pity. Guess we'll miss his cute little dog. But really, aren't Chihuahuas kind of played out? Even Brit knows.

Vonzell

Gee, shocker.

Naima

I figured Naima would win because of the viewers, but I don't think the judges were that keen on her. Speaking of, THANK god she didn't win. I hated her from the first makeover -- whining about her hair. Her hair NEVER looked good when she did it, that's for sure. I'm so sad that Kahlen didn't win, though. She really looks like a runway model and has an adorable, almost tomboyish look sometimes. Oh well. I don't watch it b/c it's smart TV.

Where does your high school rank?

Based on AP and IB exams, Newsweek ranked the top 1,000 high schools in the United States. Not a single West Virginia school in the top 100, but Chagrin Falls High School's there. Gee, surprising. In fact, there are only two W.Va. schools in the top 1,000, and they're at the very bottom (Morgantown and Charleston). I really don't think those tests are accurate indicators seeing as how better-off students are usually taking those exams. Read more here. I may be overly sensitive, but I know when I was in high school, AP courses weren't available. You could take the exams, of course, but they cost money -- and you didn't know whether you were prepared adequately for them. Or maybe I was a wimp.

Truth in Television

OK, first, how good was Veronica?! Fabulous.

Also, as relates to Gilmore and Desperate Housewives, let's be honest about the way sex works. Women are on the pill (hello, Gilmore) and when things get messed up, morning-after pills and abortions exist. I am so sick of television being too wussy to admit that. Lorelei would be on the pill, for sure, and she would have been a great candidate for the morning-after pill. As for Gabby, there is no doubt in mind that, were she a real person, she would have kept the pregnancy quiet and made her way to a clinic to "take care" of matters. TV's too scared of this stupid right-wing "leadership" (leading me to another country?) to admit that. Whatever.

And ... a quiz says I'm agnostic. Hmmm...

You scored as agnosticism. You are an agnostic. Though it is generally taken that agnostics neither believe nor disbelieve in God, it is possible to be a theist or atheist in addition to an agnostic. Agnostics don't believe it is possible to prove the existence of God (nor lack thereof).

Agnosticism is a philosophy that God's existence cannot be proven. Some say it is possible to be agnostic and follow a religion; however, one cannot be a devout believer if he or she does not truly believe.

Finally!

Finally, Scott was booted from Idol. It's amazing the hatred I started to feel for him -- way more than the hatred for goofy Anthony. I really hated this holier-than-thou, I'll be choosing my next song or wardrobe or whatever. I still like Bo, though. I don't care if the producers of Idol are pushing for that.

Oh, I didn't watch or anything. I've watched before, developed my opinions, and now I just operate layman style. I should Russian roulette the voting for fun, too. Nah, that's too much effort.

The only thing worth watching last night was my beloved Models. I'm the only person I know who watches the show, and I have no idea why I like it. Perhaps hoping it will motivate me to work out? Nope -- they're never shown working out, just eating. That's not motivational; that's depressing. Maybe it's because they're so flawed. I can say, hey, my lips are fuller than hers. Bye-bye, Christina.

Double dose of OC tonight, but I'm really not that interested. Maybe I'll watch -- 'cause what else will I do?

Best Night on TV

Why, oh why, is Tuesday the best night on TV? Tuesday's when I want to crash after staying up too late on Sunday and pushing through on Monday.

Gilmore Girls: I felt so bad for Lorelei. Sometimes I think she takes the hating of her parents to the extreme, but tonight, they were just so mean. It's like they had all that bottled up desire for what L's life should have been and then just transferred it -- to the nth degree -- Rory. It was less funny than I like. Plus, I cried.

And Veronica! What's up with Duncan?! I never thought he was particularly attractive, but the facial hair does NOT work for him. And I'm not so sure the Logan thing is as cut-and-dry as it appeared. Also, I wish when a character was going to be a surprise -- like V's mom -- they wouldn't put her name in the opening. I do my best not to seek out spoilers, and that's like a spoiler to me! (I learned my lesson during Buffy, S6, when I was addicted to finding out which Scooby would be killed, how, and all that. I had read part of the script for the episode where Tara died before it aired, and it made me panicky the entire episode.)

I'm taping The Shield. I am just too tired -- and too busy doing this -- to stay up until after 11. Aaron and I shall watch together at a later date.

Get Caught Reading

When I was a child, the local newspaper caught me and a friend reading while perched in a neighborhood tree. We had gone to the laundry mat for soda - Dr Pepper for me, of course - because both of our houses only had Big K soda. Not cool to be seen drinking that in public. Maybe you could get caught reading, too. Make sure your beverage is cool. These days, it's probably a coffee drink. Who drinks canned soda anymore?

Sammie has a new home. Visit her there, but come back here, too! More later.
